Chronicle Pt. VII
Dark skies matched the dark rock that held the presence of an even darker creature. She no longer came outside, her body but a shadow of it once was. Hatred and pain consumed the brilliance of her scales and the fire in her eyes. But she knew…
Broken claws dragged through rock,
her muscles aching under the strain.
It was time to spread her wings,
and look to the skies again.
Although the moons were hidden,
they beckoned her presence.
She roared at the darkness,
and reached within for her primal essence.
As she took the first step outside,
fractured talons on smooth rock clicking.
The wind caressing her form,
a shiver down her body and tail flicking.
Eyes hurting by the dim light,
no glimmer from her scales now so dull.
She took a deep breath and remembered,
there is more story before it seemed null.
The wind picked up and clouds gathered dark,
her wings tugging at her mind.
She spread them open and stepped off the cliff,
trusting in fate to be kind.
A long forgotten feeling,
accompanied by long forgotten sounds.
Her wings got carried by the sound of her roar,
higher from the grounds.
She paid prey no heed,
cut through the clouds.
The sky came alive,
unshackling her bounds.
With a steady beating of her already sore wings she made for home. Her home. The twinkling of stars and the faint glow of a galaxy between the moons soothed her feral fire and aching muscles. She belonged here. The faint scent of a memory that was forgotten got carried on the wind and guided her. She felt the cool stream of air rushing past her head and tickling her horns. Her wings eased on the currents and let instinct control the route, for she knew it was a long way and had to save her energy.
