The Akir’Ischa Chronicles

Chronicle Pt. VIII

The first sight of forgotten ragged mountaintops made her lose her determination. Too many memories rushed back, but just as she left with the intention to not return, she didn’t come this way to turn back. The snow on them was fresh and her visible breath betrayed her exhaustion. Small orbs of ice formed as her memories turned to tears, but she shook her head and focused on the well-known entry point between her once familiar jagged peaks.

And although left behind barren,
new life had found its way.
Green and lush the valley stood,
hoping for her to stay.

A different dragon had made its home,
there were scents galore.
She circled the valley multiple times,
but this time wasn’t out for war.

A distant roar was heard as she turned her tail towards her old Home. She was discovered and had no need for a confrontation with another of her kind. Not yet. Although heavy on her already tired heart, she left. With a single beating of her wings she crossed the borders she, no, they so fiercely had defended for decades.
It wasn’t far to a place of refuge. It was there she finally took rest.

Moons awakened her presence,
she looked up into the sky.
How she missed the view of those galaxies,
an answer laying hidden between their shine.

Silence lay upon the land,
she knew she had to continue.
With growl and groan her muscles answered,
as her wings became one with the dark.

A shadow of this world glid over the treetops,
none got disturbed by her presence.
Crimson black turned into fiery red,
the journey finally coming to an end.

And as the sun torched the tops of the oldest trees in the region, where the stone slabs of Before lay, she landed. Her past known and her future already written, the slabs knew why she was here before she knew herself.

And in that moment she realized,
what her path was meant to be.
A fight was arranged,
giving the chance to be free.

This challenge for power,
she was chosen to lead.
Her return expected,
but it would not be an easy feat.
